About Janice

Storytelling saved Janice Davin’s career as a teacher and maybe her life.  During 35 years in the classroom, she used stories to calm savage beasts, subdue mutinies, and make the curriculum memorable.  Currently Janice provides programs for schools, churches, organizations, and retirement communities.

Janice holds a M.Ed. in Elementary Education from the University of North Carolina in Greensboro and a M.A. in Oral Traditions from the Graduate Institute in Connecticut.

Janice received National Board Certification in 1997. She has served as a coach for National Board Candidates in the Charlotte-Mecklenburg School System and also served as a mentor for many teachers seeking NC licensure.

Janice is a board member of the North Carolina Storytelling Guild and the Charlotte Friends of Jung.  She is a member of the National Storytelling Network, the American Orff Schulwerk Association, the Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development, the National Council of Teachers of English, and the International Society for Technology in Education, and the Society for Childrens’ Book Writers and Illustrators.
